The Golden Touch

Once there was a king named Midas. He loved gold very much.

He owned a beautiful garden. There were many flowers and trees in it. He loved them. But he loved gold more than flowers and trees.

Midas had a child, a lovely little girl. She is very smart and beautiful.  He loved her. But he loved gold more than his little daughter.

Every day, Midas went out for a walk. And in the garden, he always prayed the God to give him more gold. The God decided to punish the greedy king and said to him,

“Ok, Midas…from then on, everything that you touch will become gold. “Said the God

“Is it true?” the king was unbelievable, “is it true? Thank you, thank you my beloved God..” the king Midas was very happy. He picked one flower, and it turned to gold in his hand. He picked another and the same thing happened. Everything he touched, it will be turned to the Gold.

“Oh ho ho hooo…I’m the richest King in the world now… I’m the richest King in the world. There is nothing the Kingdom bear down of mine.. I’m the king of the world… hoooohhoooo…hoo” Midas touched everything that he found, and in a glance the entire thing that they touched turned in to gold, his kingdom was surrounded by the gold. 

One day Midas was hungry. He called his servant, to prepare the food.

“Bring some food here, I’m hungry” Midas asked to his servant.

“Yes, my Lord” the servant said. The servant brought some food. And as soon as the King touched the food, but He very surprised because everything food that he touched it will be changed into the gold. He couldn’t eat the food. When Midas touched the water, it is  changed into the gold too.

“Wow, No! I can’t eat my food if all be changed into the gold. No, I will die, If I can’t eat and drink..!” the King screamed. In his panic, suddenly his little girl came and complaint.

“Oh, Dad, I just came from my garden, our beautiful flowers have changed into the same color. I don’t like them.. The king then reaches and hugged her, but suddenly his little girl was changed into the gold too…

“Oh, No!” the king screamed loudly. “Please forgive me my God; please forgive me for my greediness… I don’t want it, I don’t want the gold, give back my daughter, give back my garden.. Give back everything …please forgive me my God..” said the King mourn. The God was heard, Midas Mourned.. and came and said..

“Midas.. I have given everything you want, and I have granted what you asked to Me.., aren’t you happy with all that you have received?” the God said.

“No my Lord, please forgive me.. Take away everything that I had, take away, I don’t want it. “

“So what do you want Midas?” asked the God.

“Give back my little girl. I love her very much, please return her back to me” Midas began to cry He begged the God to take away the golden touch. “I don’t want it”. And then the God said.

“This is a valuable lesson for you, to be a good man in a good attitude. Don’t be greedy, don’t be voracious. A good man is a man that received what he been received. Do you understand, Midas?” asked the God.

“Yes, I understand My God, I understand. I won’t be repeated and return to a bad attitude more and more. I am wary. I promise to myself. I will not be repeated what I have done. Please bring me back my little girl. Uncover her to a normal girl.”

“Midas, go to the river and wash your hands. The river can wash away the golden touch”

Midas ran to the river quickly and washed his hands. He put his hands on his child. At a moment, she turned to the little pretty princess at once.

Midas and his little girl ran into the garden. He changed the flowers back into the rich colors.

From then on, Midas wasn’t greedy any more. He knew that the happiness was the most important in the world.
